We are the Ancestors

I am an ancestor.

The moment my body was birthed into this world I became an ancestor.

Whether it be to descendants of the blood that flows within me, or to the trees, the animals, the plants, the skies, the waters, the Earth, and all the beings that will exist after me.

I am an ancestor.

It took me a while to put words to what I have been doing the last few years. I have been healing myself from the harm that I have caused my being in this lifetime, but I am also healing the harm my ancestors caused me. I am also healing the harm that we as a species have caused our home ~ this beautiful Earth.

I am often told by people that it does not matter what they eat, or what chemicals they put on their skin ~ they are going to die anyways.

I am often told by others that all the work I am doing is pointless because it is not going to help me live forever.

Of course it is not. It has never been about me. It has never been about any individual.

But why am I pouring my heart and my work into healing if it is not going to help me to live forever? Why should I bother caring if I use my money to support big corporations that are destroying the Earth and destroying my own body?

Because I am an ancestor.

Because when my life in this body ends, life on Earth does not end.

There will be beings after me. And they will be forced to deal with the consequences of my actions.

They will be confronted with healing from the harm that I have done with my time in this body on this Earth.

And so, with each choice that I make, with each dose of information I acquire about the impact of my actions, I create a ripple effect that extends far into the future and into the lives of my descendants.

With each choice that I make in this human body at this moment in time, I choose what type of ancestor I want to be.

By honouring that I am not perfect, and that I will certainly die, but choosing to do the best that I know how to do at this moment, I am choosing to honour my decedents ~ human, tree, plant, animal, sky, water, land, Earth.

I honour and choose to be the best ancestor I can be.
